Out-of-the-shop and out-of-the-van key gauge utility.

Have a key you need to decode but no caliper or key gauge nearby? Not 100% confident with your eyesight for reading the cuts? You can now use your iDevice to measure the key accurately with Kaliper.

Kaliper is available for free download with the option for upgrading. It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the app before making a purchase, as mastering any tool requires practice for perfection.

The free version includes two predefined systems: Arrow .014" and Schlage .015" (5 pin only).

The full version offers eight predefined systems: Arrow .014" (5/6 pin), Best A2, A3, A4 (6/7 pin), Kwikset .023" (standard/titan), Sargent .020" (5/6 pin), Schlage .015" (5/6 pin), and Yale .019" (5/6 pin). The full version also allows for custom key measurements and offers an ad-free experience.

Instructions:

• On the main page, select your iDevice from the choices on the left, then choose a predefined system or custom.
• Predefined: Lay your device on a flat surface and place your key on top of the silhouette. Align using the top shoulder (or bottom tip for best systems) as the primary focus. Each cut marker should align directly above its corresponding cut. Adjust using the zoom control if necessary. Tap on the down arrow in the upper right corner to lower the cut marker, each tap represents a deeper cut. Once aligned, continue this process for each cut to complete measuring the key.
• Custom: The measurement process mirrors that of predefined systems, but as markers are customizable, specific measurements must be provided: Bow to First Cut, Cut to Cut, Shallowest Depth, and Depth Increment. These are typically found on pinning kits or can be located on the Charts page. For manual input, type the measurements into the 4 boxes and tap Apply. The markers will adjust accordingly, allowing you to begin measuring using shoulder and blade alignment.

Compatibility: All iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch models with a minimum iOS version of 12.0
